I was interested in art from a very young age. Growing up I would sit and watch my father do pencil sketches and was fascinated by the fact the he was creating something from his own mind. I was also fascinated with horror movies and basically all things macabre. So I started to hone my art skills but I found myself creating more dark and fantastic themed projects. Now at this time tattoos were deemed taboo by society, so of course my rebellious side was drawn to this taboo art. I would find myself walking into every shop I came across and harassing the owners and artists to give me all the knowledge they had on this forbidden artform. Oddly enough no one wanted to give this 12 year old kid any answers, hahaha. So I started experimenting on my own ( not a good idea I promise, please do not do this.) At the age of 16 a shop opened close to home that I passed walking to work, so of course I would stop in everyday and ask questions. After a while of this Mr. Jimmy Thompson asked to see some of my drawings. After showing him my art he took me under his wing and taught me about this art of tattooing. After years of fine tuning my art and skill I came to a realization that this artform is more than just an awesome or pretty picture that lasts a lifetime. It’s a therapy session. It’s a pain reliever. It’s someone’s story and they chose me to be their author! So, needless to say I take pride in my story telling, art, work, or whatever you choose to call it. But for me, it’s a passion. I don’t know if I would even say that I specialize in anything, but I do love to do black and grey but I am completely comfortable telling the story the way the client wants it to be told.
Robbie Stiles has enjoyed art since he could hold a pencil. Before becoming a tattoo artist, Robbie was a muralist and an air brush artist. He has painted murals that are hung all over the world in famous steak houses such as Texas Roadhouse and Roadhouse Grill.
Robbie later used his artistic skill set to air brush motor vehicles, including motorcycles and airplanes. During this time, he had the opportunity to be able to paint many vehicles for the USO’s car club.
Robbie was introduced to tattooing by Tray Benham, who was featured on season 2 of Ink Master. Robbie started his apprenticeship with Tray in 2012 and has chosen to primarily stick to skin as his canvas ever since.
Robbie specializes in realism, traditional, neotraditional, watercolor, and illustrative but adapts easily to the clients choices while admitting he does at times have a personal preference for heavy color saturation.
Robbie is always up for a challenge. He has even entered pieces into contests such as one held by Dynamic Ink Co. where one of his pieces was chosen to be one of the top 5 submitted in the nation. Robbie is always eager to meet new people and create new works of art on new skin canvas.
My name is Madison Juliet! I was born and raised in Lexington, KY. I have enjoyed art in many forms my entire life. I have even taken many classes in drawing, painting and pottery. My interest in art really grew when I began to realize just how much of an escape it could be from hustle and bustle of regular life. I have always been eager to learn new ways to create art. I started working in a tattoo shop and from there, learning to tattoo was the natural progression in my journey. I’m excited to learn everything I can about tattooing. So far, just from practice, I’m enjoying traditional the most. But I’ve got plenty of time to expand my knowledge and skill.
Decided life needed to change. After working in healthcare for most of my adult life and raising babies, mine and everyone else’s, I went and switched it up. I should have made some of these changes a long time ago. I never imagined I’d be running a tattoo parlor. Some days I feel like a fraternity house house mom. Some days I feel like a banker or accountant . Regardless of what kind of day it is, I wouldn’t change a thing. Not everyone is able to come to work everyday and be able to have fun and be around people you like while having the opportunity to meet so many new people with such interesting stories, which might just be my favorite part of the shop.
I never would have thought I’d be a tattoo artist, it just wasn’t on my radar. I have a bachelor’s degree in social work and I spent three years in culinary school but I’ve always had art in my heart. even with all the college and degrees, I worked at Starbucks for years until I started tattooing full time. I have to admit, since I’ve started tattooing I have been the happiest I’ve ever been. Being able to make any client happy with the art I can do just makes the anger and stress melt away. I love doing the spooky or wacky stuff that my clients give me. I enjoy being able to learn new things everyday. I have a long way to go but each day I spend in the shop shows me more and more that I am where I’m meant to be. I’m surrounded by so many people that believe in me and just let me be my weird little self. Thank you to all the clients I’ve had for giving me your trust. I love everything that I’ve done and I can’t wait to see what the future brings.
